Melissa McCart interviewed Vinoteca owner Paul Carlson in Weekend Pass this week. Here are a few quotes taken from Paul in the interview:A younger age group is drinking more wine...The fastest growing market [of wine drinkers] is people between the ages of 25 and 35.
We want neighborhood people to feel comfortable coming by in jeans and flip-flops to try anything from their favorite wines by the glass to something from the reserve list they haven't had before and are curious about.

Here's a snapshot of what she had to say:The trend of wine bars follows national patterns that show wine consumption steadily rising and even poised to eclipse beer as Americans' drink of choice. Vinoteca is coming along great! The renovation stage is almost finalized and it’s looking truly amazing. Plus, our wine and food menu is looking and tasting better than ever. These past two weeks have been extremely productive.

Amy Cavanaugh of the Washington Blade reported this week on the surge of new wine bars opening in DC. Amongst the featured bars is Vinoteca. Cavanaugh reported:
Vinoteca will have an enomatic system, a technology which helps to preserve the wine, dispensing at least 40 wines by the glass, and beer and liquor will also be available.
